Oral Health Month

June 29, 2023

Did you know that June is oral health month? Every June, the American Dental Association shares the importance of taking care of your teeth. In fact, most Americans that deal with oral health conditions could have been prevented by receiving regular dental checkups. Below is a list of groups that could be at higher risk for dental conditions such as gum disease or tooth decay.

Higher Risk Groups include but are not limited to:

  • Pregnant Women (this group can be at risk for cavities and gum disease)
  • People with chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, hepatitis C, arthritis, and liver conditions
  • People that are immunocompromised
  • Present and past smokers
  • People that have a diet that consists of high sugar intake

Now that you know the higher risk groups, below are a few preventative measures that you can take starting today to better your oral health!

  • Brush your teeth at least twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste
  • Floss at least once daily
  • Limit your sugar intake – follow our snack guide to get a few ideas on what snacks are healthy for your teeth and which aren’t!
  • Say no to smoking, if you do smoke and need help with quitting, check out this link.
  • Lastly, visit your Park Dental dentist every 6 months for a cleaning and check-up!

I am a New Patient, or an Existing Patient looking to schedule dental treatment.

If you are covered under a Medicaid (Medical Assistance/MA) plan, you must call the practice to request your appointment.

Why do some doctors not have a star rating or comments?

In order to provide our patients with the most accurate and beneficial information, we only post star ratings and comments for a doctor once they have received a minimum of 30 surveys within the previous 12 months.
