What is gum disease? Gum disease, also known as Periodontal disease is the inflammation of the gums, and in severe cases, can cause the loss of tissues that hold your teeth in place. There are more than 3 million cases of gum disease a year!
What are the signs of gum disease?
- Red or swollen gums
- Tender or bleeding gums
- Painful chewing
- Loose teeth
- Sensitive teeth
- Gums that have been pulled away from the teeth
Now, let’s dive into some tips to help prevent gum disease:
- Brush your teeth twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste and floss at least once a day to help remove plaque.
- Maintain a healthy diet full of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Keep your sugar and carb intake low.
