Get to Know Dr. Ryan Lindner

This week in our “Get to Know the Park Dental Doctors” feature we’re profiling Dr. Ryan Lindner from our Maplewood practice. In his profile, Dr. Lindner shares his treatment philosophy, what he enjoys about being a dentist, as well as some fun facts about his personal life. What made you choose dentistry? 

A very talented family dentist who my parents played bridge with. 

What do you love most about being a dentist or what do you find the most rewarding? 

When you change someone’s smile and they are amazed. I have also had one sleep patient that told me his treatment is “life changing”. 

What’s your care/treatment philosophy?

The best care based on science and what works for the finances of my patients.

Is there a particular area of dentistry you enjoy the most or like to focus on? 

I am really enjoying treating sleep apnea with oral devices.

When did you start or how many years have you been with Park Dental? 

10 years this past April!

What is one thing you love most about Park Dental? 

A lot of good dentists here that you get to consult with.

What do you enjoy most about being part of a group practice? 

The practice gets to focus on the issues with HIPPA, the CDC, ADA and the board and we get to primarily focus on dentistry.

What did you want to be when you were a kid? 

Just like Hermie in Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer…  I wanted to be a dentist! Since about 7 years old. 

What was your very first job? 

A bag boy at HEB.

What do you like to do on your days off? 

I’m and avid sailor, windsurfer, traveler, and photographer. I love seeing cultural events of other countries. 

What’s your favorite food or drink? 

Any type of cake and why not some good champagne to go with it. 

Who is your hero or who inspires you? 

Ruth Bader Ginsberg, many artists, and anyone fighting for peace. 

What is an interesting fact that people may not know about you? 

I broke my leg in Taiwan kiteboarding.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? 

So many places.  Inner Mongolia for the eagle festival is high on my list. 

What’s your favorite movie? 

“My Life as a Dog”  (Norwegian?) 

What’s your favorite genre of music to listen to? 

80’s Punk/New Wave.

What are your hobbies? 

Travel, photography, cooking. 

What’s your favorite holiday? 

4th of July for the fireworks. 

Do you speak any other languages? 

Minimal Spanish and ASL.

Are you scared of or have a fear of anything? 

The sensation of falling and sometimes heights. 

What’s your favorite thing about living in Minnesota?

Sailing in the summer and the beautiful fall. 

Do you have any hidden talents? 

Does tying a cherry stem with your tongue count? I love doing macro photography and photo editing. 

What’s your favorite season? 

Summer. 

What’s your favorite color? 

Yellow! You’ll never lose your car in a parking lot if it is yellow. 

What’s your favorite animal? 

Whales are incredible. I love whale watching. 

How many different states have you lived in?

Texas, Virginia, and Minnesota.
