Get to Know Dr. Michael Johnson

In this week’s installment of “Get to Know the Park Dental Doctors”, we’re introducing you to Dr. Michael Johnson at Park Dental Edinbrook.  Dr. Johnson joined Park Dental in 2005 and enjoys forming lasting relationships with his patients.  Check out his profile to learn more about Dr. Johnson, including an interesting fact and hidden talent!

What made you choose dentistry?
I like working with people and enjoy working with my hands.

What do you love most about being a dentist or what do you find the most rewarding?
I enjoy the relationships I get to form, especially with long time patients.  I get a lot of satisfaction when a patient is pleased, either with an improved smile or when I’m able to relieve their pain.

What’s your care/treatment philosophy?
Treat patients the way I would want to be treated.  Give the patient options, discuss the pros and cons, and help them make the decision that is best for them.

Is there a particular area of dentistry you enjoy the most or like to focus on?
I love the variety of dentistry and the chance to serve my patients in multiple areas.

When did you start or how many years have you been with Park Dental?
2005, 16 years

What is one thing you love most about Park Dental?
Park Dental is a fantastic group of people guided by strong patient-centered values.

What do you enjoy most about being part of a group practice?
The opportunity to collaborate with my colleagues, work together and learn from each other.

And now for a little fun, let’s get to know Dr. Johnson on a personal level.

• What was your very first job?
  I’ve been coaching my kids’ soccer teams for about 15 years now.
• What do you like to do on your days off?
  My wife and I have 5 kids.  I spend most of my time away from work running them to activities, helping with homework, and just trying to have fun.
• What is an interesting fact that people may not know about you?
  I’m the only dentist I know who majored in humanities.  I get excited about art, history, literature, philosophy, music and all that geeky stuff.
• What are your hobbies?
  I like biking in the summer and try to do some skiing in the winter.
• Do you have any hidden talents?
  I like to sing.  I’ve sung a lot with choirs, in church, and on stage.
