Get to Know Dr. Elias Kouvalis

This week in our “Get to Know the Park Dental Doctors” feature we’re profiling Dr. Elias Kouvalis from our Plymouth West practice. In his profile, Dr. Kouvalis shares his treatment philosophy, what he enjoys about being a dentist, as well as some fun facts about his personal life. What made you choose dentistry?

My dad was a dentist and I was mesmerized by all the different ways he could treat patients with all kinds of issues.

What do you love most about being a dentist or what do you find the most rewarding?

It is always about the relationships that you build with patients through all the years of practicing dentistry. 

What’s your care/treatment philosophy?

I have always been conservative and look at multiple factors before making a recommendation. 

Is there a particular area of dentistry you enjoy the most or like to focus on?

I really enjoy aesthetic dentistry to give people their smiles back. 

When did you start or how many years have you been with Park Dental?

I have started working with Park Dental in 1999, right after my graduation from The University of Minnesota Dental School.

What is one thing you love most about Park Dental?

The comradery and the feeling of a family outside of my own. 

What do you enjoy most about being part of a group practice?

The resources that are there so I can provide complete care to my patients.

What did you want to be when you were a kid?

A fighter pilot.

What was your very first job?

Worked at my uncle’s movie theater.

What do you like to do on your days off?

I love going to my kid’s basketball and soccer practices and tournaments.

What’s your favorite food or drink?

For the people that know me, I am a coffee addict (black of course, no sugar added!) 

Who is your hero or who inspires you?

My dad and his work ethic that was insatiable.  

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I would love to tour the world and hit all continents. 

What’s your favorite genre of music to listen to?

Most except country… 

What are your hobbies?

Soccer, working out, and travelling.

What’s your favorite holiday?

Christmas.

Do you speak any other languages?

Greek.

Are you scared of or have a fear of anything?

My mind giving up before my body. 

What’s your favorite thing about living in Minnesota/Wisconsin?

Minnesota is a great place to raise a family. 

What’s your favorite season?

Summer.

What’s your favorite color?

Blue.

What’s your favorite animal?

Dog.

How many different states have you lived in?

2, Minnesota and Illinois.
