Get to Know Dr. Camille Jensen

Welcome to the next installment in “Get to Know the Park Dental Doctors.”  This week, we’re introducing you to Dr. Camille Jensen at Park Dental Plymouth Lakes.  In her profile, Dr. Jensen shares what she finds most rewarding and her care philosophy for her patients.  She also shares fun and interesting facts about herself.  We hope you enjoy learning more about Dr. Jensen!

What made you choose dentistry?
I was always saying that I wanted to be a doctor when I grew up. From a very early age, I really wanted to work in healthcare and for some reason, it just stuck. I planned to become a physician, but then shadowed a few female physicians in college who really made me second guess that decision. Ultimately, I chose dentistry for the blend of science and art.

What do you love most about being a dentist or what do you find the most rewarding?
I love getting to meet new people and developing relationships with them. I enjoy solving a problem, making patients comfortable and changing their perspective on what a typical dental appointment should feel like. I do have to say that the ultimate reward is encouraging patients who have been hiding their smile for so long, to let their smile shine!

What’s your care/treatment philosophy?
I tend to be conservative. I want patients to understand their situation and options and ultimately make the decision that is best for them. I don’t like to push patients into any decisions they may be uncomfortable with.

Is there a particular area of dentistry you enjoy the most or like to focus on?
I really like the variety and wide range of procedures I can do. I enjoy cosmetic cases and root canal treatments for the fun challenge they bring.

When did you start or how many years have you been with Park Dental?
I started with Park Dental in 2011.  I practiced at Park Dental Edina for 10 years before transferring to Park Dental Plymouth Lakes to be closer to home.

What is one thing you love most about Park Dental?
I love all the friends I have made here. We have some of the best dentists and the best team members. Our employees are all team players who want to work collaboratively. It’s an exciting environment where people aren’t just out for themselves.

What do you enjoy most about being part of a group practice?
The best part about working at a group practice is that it drives you to be a better healthcare provider. You’re striving for the best because you know there are so many other people who will see your work.

And now for a little fun, let’s get to know Dr. Jensen on a personal level.

• • What did you want to be when you were a kid?
    I always wanted to be a doctor.  
  • What was your very first job?
    My first job was cleaning cabins at a resort in Nisswa.
  • What do you like to do on your days off?
    I enjoy a nice walk in the morning with my husband and then usually spend the day driving my kids around to their activities. In the winter we like to ski, and in the summer, we love being around water; either the lake or the pool.
  • What’s your favorite food or drink?
    My favorite food is either sushi or tacos. I could live on those two things alone.
  • Who is your hero or who inspires you?
    I’m inspired by people who let it all go and live authentically. I’ve always had a type-A personality and have a hard time just winging it. I’d love to be more like that.
  • What is an interesting fact that people may not know about you?
    I’m a scuba diver and have been for over 20 years. I’ve been diving all over the world including Bali, Bonaire, Mexico, and Australia.
  • If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
    Right now, it would be Italy because I had to cancel a girl’s trip there due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • What are your hobbies?
    I really enjoy reading and am almost always in the middle of a book. I’m also about to start training for my first ever marathon.
  • What’s your favorite holiday?
    My favorite holiday is the 4th of July. We always go up to our family cabin and stay up late around the bonfire and decorate the boat for the parade. It’s just a great, relaxing holiday where we can treasure everything we love about Minnesota.
