Get to Know Dr. Brett Knutson

This week in our “Get to Know the Park Dental Doctors” feature we’re profiling Dr. Brett Knutson at Park Dental Riverdale.  In his profile, Dr. Knutson shares his treatment philosophy, what he enjoys about being a dentist, as well as some fun facts about his personal life.  Learn more about Dr. Knutson below!

What made you choose dentistry?
I was interested in science and I was good with my hands.  I also had a wonderful dentist growing up.  He even let me date his daughter.

What do you love most about being a dentist or what do you find the most rewarding?
I love the change you can make in people’s lives.  Something simple like helping a child through their first filling or giving a dental phobic patient a positive visit.

What’s your care/treatment philosophy?
I do my best to be honest with my patients and keep the their best interest at the forefront.

Is there a particular area of dentistry you enjoy the most or like to focus on?
Crown and bridge procedures.

When did you start or how many years have you been with Park Dental?
I started 17 years ago in July of 2004.

What is one thing you love most about Park Dental?
The wealth of knowledge that I have access to in group practice.  I always have someone I can ask or bounce ideas off of.

What do you enjoy most about being part of a group practice?
I like knowing that I have a large support structure to rely on.  I can go home at the end of the day or on vacation and know that my patients have access to care.

• What did you want to be when you were a kid?
  A fighter jet pilot
• What was your very first job?
  Mowing lawns
• What do you like to do on your days off?
  Golf, woodwork and spend time with my family.
• What’s your favorite food or drink?
  Pizza
• Who is your hero or who inspires you?
  My dad.
• What is an interesting fact that people may not know about you?
  I like to woodwork and build things.
• If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
  Japan
• What’s your favorite movie?
  I don’t have one, too many to choose from.
• What’s your favorite genre of music to listen to?
  Alternative/Rock
• What are your hobbies?
  Golfing, hunting, fishing, skiing, woodworking.
• What’s your favorite holiday?
  Fourth of July.  I am usually with my family at the cabin.
• Do you speak any other languages?
  No
• Are you scared of or have a fear of anything?
  I am claustrophobic.
• What’s your favorite thing about living in Minnesota/Wisconsin?
  I love that I get to experience all 4 seasons which makes me appreciate summer even more.

  Summer
• What’s your favorite color?
  Blue
• What’s your favorite animal?
  Eagle
• How many different states have you lived in?
  Two
