I enjoy all aspects of dentistry, especially the opportunity to interact with patients and help guide those in need to stable oral health with the end goal of optimal oral health.
Initially, I was not drawn to dentistry as a career, but stick with me as I explain. My fear of the dentist when I was young is why I overlooked dentistry as a career option. My career started in Physics and Engineering where I worked primarily in aerospace R&D and analysis. That career eventually led me to the field of dentistry. In many ways, my dental education is an extension and refinement of those skills and experience.
Getting to know patients, their desires and concerns, and helping them achieve optimal oral health is a great privilege. I pride myself on looking out for the long term for every patient with a goal of retaining natural teeth, through regular maintenance, for a lifetime of use. All this while keeping patients as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
I grew up in Mora, MN on a small farm. Since then, my family and I have lived in many locations where my engineering career and dental training have taken us. As such, we enjoy traveling and taking in the unique aspects of areas new to us. Locally, we enjoy the great outdoors available in and around Duluth. Two favorites are skiing and mountain biking – I also enjoy ‘tinkering’ and home improvements. My wife and I live in Duluth with our daughter Ainsley, son Ian when he is home from college, and our dog Dozer (a Bernese Mountain Dog).
