National Brushing Day
November 01, 2023Did you know that November 1st is National Brushing Day? Not only is brushing your teeth important for maintaining good oral health, it can also help brush away the harmful bacteria caused by candy that is eaten on Halloween. Follow these few steps to help get your child interested in brushing their teeth!
- Play your child’s favorite song while brushing! As long as the song is 2 minutes, this can be a fun way to get your child excited to brush their teeth. Bonus tip, you can get toothbrushes that play music while your child brushes their teeth.
- Get a toothbrush with their favorite character on it! Many toothbrush brands have kids toothbrushes that have different cartoon and movie characters on them such as Paw Patrol, Elsa and Olaf from Frozen, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse. In addition to that, you could get a toothbrush in their favorite color to interest them in brushing their teeth.
- Try flavored toothpaste! Flavored toothpastes such as bubblegum, bubble-mint, or fruit flavors could help get your child more interested in brushing their teeth because it doesn’t taste like the mint flavor most toothpastes come in. In addition to that, make sure that the toothpaste has fluoride in it to help protect your little one’s teeth.
- Get your child excited about brushing by using a brushing chart. Get stickers of their favorite characters to mark the chart every time they brush. You can check out and download our Park Dental Kid’s Club brushing chart by clicking here.
We at Park Dental hope that with these few tips, your child will start enjoying brushing their teeth. Don’t forget to schedule a cleaning appointment every 6 months with your local Park Dental practice!
